Constantine Butakoff Profile

BIO
Constantine Butakoff is Professor Lector with the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona, Spain, where he works in the biomedical research area. Constantine received master’s degree in mathematics from State University of Uzhgorod, Ukraine, in 1999 and Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from I3A, Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain, in 2009.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Constantine’s main research interests lie in the study of pattern analysis and recognition methods. Currently he focuses on the application of the aforementioned methods to biomedical imaging: shape and deformation analysis of the heart and their relation to pathologies, attempts to derive clinically meaningful low-dimensional representation of cardiac shape variability. Apart from that he’s interested in the application of computational geometry methods to characterization of cardiac geometry and establishing of correspondences between the shapes or populations of shapes.
